The provision of an email address is required for UTME registration, according to JAMB

Prospective candidates can no longer register for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, without supplying their email addresses, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.

According to JAMB, the policy would go into force on January 31, 2023.

The board reiterated that the evaluation of its recommendation on the ongoing UTME registration aimed to ensure that best practices are followed in the process of collecting all essential data pertaining to candidates.

The board said that, in addition to assisting in eliciting appropriate and up-to-date data from candidates, the latest advisory will also permit the cheap and fast dissemination of urgent and critical communication to candidates.

According to Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, the email allows for greater communication flexibility and is a more professional manner of reaching out to candidates.

“Candidates are, therefore, recommended to get their legitimate email addresses before proceeding with UTME registration. Furthermore, candidates must keep their passwords secret because the board “does not retrieve forgotten email passwords or alter email addresses once enrolled,” he warned.
