Stan Collymore, a former Liverpool forward, thinks that Chelsea, under the direction of co-owner Roman Abramovich, should trade players like Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, and Hakim Ziyech after the conclusion of the current campaign.
Collymore thinks that Sterling, Havertz, and Ziyech are not doing nearly enough for Chelsea and that they will be surplus to requirements at the end of the current campaign.
Graham Potter’s team currently sits in 10th place in the Premier League after 17 games due to the ineffective play of Sterling, Havertz, and Ziyech thus far this season.
Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilecueta, two aging players, are on one end of the scale, and Mason Mount and Reece James are on the other, according to Collymore’s statement to CaughtOffside.
They must construct for the following generation, which will take time. Therefore, I believe Todd Boehly [Chelsea co-owner] should look about providing Graham Potter access to the summer transfer market so he can add some top-tier players between the ages of 21 and 24 to the likes of Mount and James.
They must make important judgments on a few players, such as Raheem Sterling. Are they twisted or stuck? He isn’t performing well enough, in my opinion, to merit a future at Stamford Bridge. Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz both fit this description.
“I believe that before the conclusion of the season, all those names will be unnecessary.”
