To examine the security situation, the Niger CP calls a meeting of the security leaders

Ogundele J. Ayodeji, the commissioner of police for Niger State, has revealed that the leaders of the security agencies met to discuss how to successfully organize the next general elections while also reviewing the state’s security status.

He claimed that the state security officials had decided to combine efforts to prepare for the elections.

This was said shortly after the Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) met in the police commissioner’s office today, January 10, 2023.

According to Ayodeji, the meeting was held in accordance with the instructions given by IGP Usman Alkali Baba to ensure sufficient security and a favorable atmosphere for the general elections in 2023.

He stated that the purpose of the conference was to “strengthen cooperation and collaboration among the security agencies charged with providing security for a free, fair, and credible 2023 general elections, with the Nigeria Police Force serving as the lead agency in election security management.

“The heads of security agencies reviewed the state’s security situation and discussed ways to pool resources like manpower, vehicles, and other logistics, as well as guaranteeing strategic deployment of security personnel and operational assets with constant supervision of officers and men from these agencies scheduled for the impending general elections.”

The Military, DSS, NSCDC, Correctional Service, Immigration, Customs, NDLEA, FRSC, and the State Fire Service are among the security services represented during the conference.
