To regain my mandate, I have returned to Osun. Ex-Gov. Oyetola

Adegboyega Oyetola, the immediately preceding governor of Osun State, has declared that he returned to the region to recover his office.

Oyetola said this on Monday during an interfaith prayer gathering for the New Year that the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had organized.

Oyetola, who lost the July 16, 2022, Osun gubernatorial election, said that God and the state’s residents voluntarily gave him the mandate.

He stated that the New Year is a year of God’s manifest promises while expressing confidence in his ability to regain his mandate and lead the APC to victory for Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima in the February 16, 2023, presidential election.

He said to party supporters, “I’m glad to be back home. I intended to enter quietly and without warning. I didn’t disclose my arrival for that reason, but to my utter amazement, you all showed up in such a large number to welcome me. I appreciate your unwavering love and unwavering support, everyone.

“God has shown us that this year will be one of joy and never-ending manifestations. God keeps all of His promises. There will be many noteworthy accomplishments this year. We’re going to take back our authority.

“God has revealed to us that this year will bring about two wins. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be chosen to lead the Federal Republic of Nigeria after we restore our mandate. He has brought us back to the state so that we can soon restore our mandate.

In order to dispel rumors that he would be moving permanently to Lagos, Oyetola stated that he had already returned in full.

The former governor urged party members in the state to put aside their differences and cooperate when he declared the start of campaigns across the state.

In addition, he said that as the country prepares for the general elections in February, the APC was the party to defeat.

“I am especially very excited and invigorated by what I have seen, and I want to guarantee you that I will lead this party to victory by the grace of God,” he declared. Today’s events demonstrate that triumph is certain. There is no one who can challenge Asiwaju. The problem is not social media. We are referring to individuals who have proven their ability. Visit Lagos State to observe his actions. Visit Borno to witness what Shettima, his running mate, accomplished. Asiwaju/Shettima ticket banditry is no longer an issue; technology will be used to combat it.

He asked party members to cast a large number of votes for the Tinubu/Shettima APC ticket while also urging them to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards, or PVCs, since the news that almost a million PVCs were still uncollected worried him personally.

The outgoing governor left the state right after delivering his goodbye speech to the populace on November 26, 2022.

While he was away, the Oyetola Administration was accused of various crimes by the incoming Ademola Adeleke administration, including the alleged plunder of the government buildings and the theft of government cars by public officials who worked there.

Governor Adeleke urged Oyetola to give specifics on the loans he acquired for the state in a speech to the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers.
