Wesley Sneijder, the idol of Inter Milan, has questioned Manchester United’s acquisition of Wout Weghorst and called it quite weird.
Weghorst is not Sneijder’s opinion of Weghorst’s caliber for Man United.
Weghorst, a Burnley loanee presently playing for Besiktas, has unexpectedly become Man United’s top target during the January transfer window.
The 30-year-old has had a standout season while on loan at Besiktas, but the Turkish club is hesitant to let him out of his contract so he may join Manchester United.
On the Dutch football program Veronica Offside, Sneijder was asked about Weghorst’s probable transfer to Manchester United. He said, “Surely not! That would be really unusual to me.
“Maybe they have noticed the free-kick trick [in the quarterfinal matchup against Argentina of the 2022 FIFA World Cup], but I don’t think they fall for that in England any more!
“Is he really the striker United have been waiting for, in terms of a striker? I don’t believe so.
