Bimbo Ademoye received the award for most engaged actress, and Stan Nze won the award for most engaged actor, both based on their social media activity.
On Tuesday night in Lagos, Nigeria celebrated social media’s best and brightest at the 2023 Nigerian Social Media Awards.
Awards were given out in several different categories, including audience participation, content development, influencer categories, and brand participation in social media.
Winners included Daddy Freeze for most engaging on-air personality on social media and Simply Tacha as best social media influencer of the year.
In addition to Morayo Afolabi-Brown being voted the most engaging TV host online and Arise News being named the most engaging TV station on social media, popular Arise Television journalist Rufai Oseni also emerged as the most engaging journalist on social media.
While praising the honorees, Emmanuel Nwafor, CEO of Alternative Adverts Ltd and the award’s organizer, said, “We hope that the award will encourage those into nefarious activities on social media to see a reason to use it for good with the hope of being recognized one day.”
Following auditions and nominations, “the winners announced today are based on online voting done between July 1 and August 31.”
