Years of afrobeat feeding Burna Boy – Bad Boy Timz

Burna Boy, a fellow musician from Nigeria who goes by the stage name Bad Boy Timz, has come under fire for saying that afrobeat music lacks “substance.”

In a recent interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Burna Boy claimed that afrobeat is “literally nothing” and lacks “lyrical substance.” This was reported by kuryaloaded.

In response, Bad Boy Timz criticized Burna Boy for his comments when appearing in the most recent episode of Fresh Off The Boat, emphasizing that “afrobeat has fed Burna for years.”

He remarked: “I feel like maybe the message he [Burna Boy] was trying to convey came across as a ‘Burna Boy.'” You are aware that Burna is the kind of person who will argue a point regardless of whether it does harm.

“However, to claim that afrobeat lacks substance, I feel like he is only referring to specific individuals [artists].” The music I create is not only bouncy; it has substance. There are some depressing times. People who create albums from nothing are therefore on their own.

“And Burna Boy speaking on behalf of other people when he says that people [artists] don’t have real life or good-enough experiences. Some people experience agony. Nobody has it completely. There are individuals who have endured numerous traumatic events. They are not weak or unappreciative just because they don’t decide to include it in their music.

Afrobeat was created by Fela Kuti. The foundation is afrobeat. Our foundation is Afrobeat. Afrobeat, after all, has sustained Burna for years.
