Such are not hidden from the board, therefore take these 5 things you should not do during a business meeting seriously to avoid the obvious.
5 THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT DO DURING A BUSINESS MEETING
1. You Should Not Give Excuses When Asked A Question
This is very common, especially when one may not have an answer to the question asked.
That’s why you are advised to prepare for any upcoming Business meetings so as to attend to questions directed to you.
It is inappropriate to give excuses when asked a question during a business meeting. Your boss may get disappointed and that may warrant your sack letter.
2. YOU SHOULD NOT PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR CELL PHONE
Every Business meeting is scheduled and there’s a reason for the host to do so.
If a situation where a business meeting is on, it is advised to keep your phone off where necessary.
But in a situation where your phone will be needed for one or two activities during the business meeting, it is recommended that you should not pay more attention to your phone.
More attention should be given to the host and purpose of the meeting, so as to ensure a successful business meeting at the end of it with benefits to all in attendance.
3. YOU SHOULD NOT CHEW GUM
Chewing of gum is a very common habbit among workers, the females especially to be specific.
I have seen some who take this habbit to their offices, but in a situation where there’s a meeting and you are in attendance, you should take note of this.
Chewing gum in a meeting or during a business meeting is an inappropriate and nonchalant attitude that should not be practiced by those in attendance.
If you are among those in a business meeting, you should not chew gums. Please try and adhere to this, if you are fun of doing so.
4. YOU SHOULD NOT ASK IRRELEVANT QUESTIONS
During a business meeting, members or those in attendance are usually given opportunities to make contributions and even ask questions.
Sometimes people see this as an opportunity to say whatever is in their minds but whichever way, you should not ask questions not relating to the topic discussed in the meeting.
If you do, it’s will be deemed irrelevant and your boss will not be happy about it. Therefore, stay on point. Make your contributions and ask relevant questions when given the privilege.
5. YOU SHOULD NOT TUNE OUT DURING THE MEETING
For those who feel certain discussions do not concern them, it is worth thinking it over.
The meeting was called for everyone in attendance and you should not tune out during the meeting because you feel what is discussed at a particular time has nothing to do with you.
Kindly pay attention as you can contribute to any sub heading discussed in the meeting.
Be willing to contribute and when the meeting is concluded, you will be happy you did.
