Sixty-one accused political thugs were detained by Kano State police during the All Progressives Congress, APC, campaign there.
This was said by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s spokesman, in a statement provided to kuryaloaded on Thursday.
He claimed that this was done as part of the police effort to guarantee that elections were conducted in a peaceful manner and as part of the Command’s efforts to purge Kano State of all criminal activity, notably the threat of political thuggery (daba).
Kiyawa went on to say that the suspects were detained on Wednesday at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano during a political event.
He claims that the suspects had “33 knives, 8 cutlasses, 4 scissors, 1 parcel 117;wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, 3 bottles of suck and die, 500 pieces of suspected Exol tablets, and bunch of charms.”
He declared that the suspects would face charges in court and be prosecuted.
