After 91 years since its founding, Araromi-Oke Odo, a hamlet in Ife South Local Government Area of Osun State, now has access to electricity, according to kuryaloaded.
Additionally, the governor, Ademola Adeleke, has pledged to work with alternative energy providers to bring light to communities that have been in the dark for a while.
The town, which was established in 1932, lacked electricity as well as many other necessities including piped water and proper roads, according to information obtained by kuryaloaded.
Governor Adeleke lauded the locals for their tenacity since settling in the town in 1932. He was represented by the Commissioner for Energy, Adeyemo Ademola.
Adeyemi gave the assurance that the project would be expanded to include additional towns in the State.
“In this State, this is the first of its sort. We are grateful for the Sholep company and hope to have more of it in the future.
This kind of project is currently underway in eight distinct communities in Ife-South. We are making the same gesture toward further communities in additional local administrations in Osun.
“To provide energy to our State, the State government is collaborating with foreign investors. The State government is enabling independent energy to fill the gap to light up Osun State because many towns are not connected to the grid, according to Adeleke.
According to Engr. Olalekan Adeleke Shogbesan, CEO of Sholep Energy Limited, the World Bank-assisted project was currently being implemented in eleven (11) distinct communities within the Ife-south local government area of the State.
He claimed that the 50KWP Hybrid Solar Mini-Grid Power Plant, whose construction began in 2018, was sufficient to provide electricity to the entire village of Araromi Oke-Odo.
The Alara of Araromi Oke-odo, Oba Abass Gbadamosi, expressed his satisfaction that the project was successful despite the fact that many people had their doubts when the business first visited the area.
He said that the neighborhood will support the company’s business interests and work with it on all fronts.
