The governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, urged residents of the state and all eligible Nigerians on Thursday to research party candidates ahead of the next elections to determine which ones had the best chance of advancing the nation.
This was said by the governor when he ratified the N179.5 billion 2023 appropriation bill at Makurdi’s Government House.
According to him, the election should be decided on the candidates’ potential for success rather than the political parties.
“Even though 2023 is fraught with problems, we believe that God will help us overcome them.
“Many of us are hoping for a change of direction, a rebranding, and a new focus. Humans have made an effort, but we still have faith that God will come to our aid and grant us the peace, hope, and other things that will make the upcoming year pleasurable.
“Let’s work hard in 2023 and cast our votes based on the election, not the party.
“We need to be aware of those who can support the nation and us. When we sit down to think about this, let’s be honest, and may God guide us.
