Sen. Godswill Akpabio, president of the senate, paid a weekend visit to the family of Henry Umoru, assistant political editor at Vanguard Newspapers, to offer his condolences for the loss of his mother and wife.
On September 26 and 27, 2023, respectively, Umoru lost his wife, Mrs. Bridget Umoru, and mother, Mrs. Celestina Ogbakhena Aboda.
The Senate President’s delegation was headed by Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, who urged the family not to lose faith in God in spite of the sorrow that had befallen them. Eyiboh is the Senate President’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity.
“My dear Henry, I am aware that as fellow humans, you and, in particular, your teenage daughter, Emmanuella, will find it challenging to accept the fact that Bridget and Mama left at the same moment. But God, the true designer of our life, is the one who has the most insight.
“My family, the whole Nigerian Senate, and I are praying for you. Keep holding onto God and don’t give up on him.
Mama and Bridget have only perished in the same manner as all other flesh. I pray that the All-Powerful God would overlook their transgressions and provide them eternal rest.
“I also pray that the good Lord would comfort you, your daughter, and actually all of your family members during this trying time. Be strong because God is with you, please. Please accept my heartfelt sympathies, Akpabio said.
Jackson Udom, the Senate President’s special assistant for media (print), and Sanni Onogu of the Nation Newspapers, the vice chairman of the Senate press corps, accompanied Eyiboh on the visit to offer condolences.
Bosede Adebayo, Philip Nyam, and Sunday Aborisade of Thisday Newspapers were also members of the trip.
Umoru thanked the Senate President for making time to visit, support, and grieve with his family in his reply.
Despite being shocked by the loss of their mother and wife, the family has found comfort in the knowledge that they are in God’s warm embrace.
“I would want to thank His Excellency, the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio on behalf of my family for taking the time to visit and offer his condolences on the passing of my lovely wife and mother.
Umoru stated, “I am honored and thank you for this amazing honor.
