According to the Kaduna State Police Command, their agents have apprehended and murdered two individuals they believe to be bandits who were threatening locals. They have also seized two AK-47 firearms from the suspects.
In a Sunday interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna, the event was confirmed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan.
“Isiyaka Mikailu, a 60-year-old male resident of Kuriga Town, was tragically killed on Saturday at about 0900 hours by armed bandits while he was tending to his farm,” Hassan stated.
According to him, the commander of the Mobile Police Unit, who was sent to Kuriga on special assignment by Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun during his visit to Kaduna following the abduction of schoolchildren from Kuriga Village by bandits, acquired the information from a reputable source.
According to him, at around 1200hrs, a group of mobile policemen and local hunters were assembled to go to the location.
As soon as the squad reached their destination, the bandits opened fire on them.
Two bandits, later named Yusuf from Kuriga Village’s Rugar Mai Chakun and an accomplice whose identities remain unknown, were neutralized during the battle, he claimed.
He claims that a total of seventeen rounds of live ammo and two AK-47 rifles were collected by the crew.
Additionally, he mentioned that Mikailu was taken to PHC Kuriga by the police team, where a doctor later verified his death.
He was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rituals after his remains were given to his relatives, according to Hassan.
In order to avoid any such incidents, he stated the squad was on high alert.
