Bob Marley, Joseph’s great-grandfather, passed away from cancer in 1981 at the age of 36, leaving behind 11 children.
The Jamaican Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, expressed his “deep sadness” over the news of the passing in a tweet and sent his condolences to Marley’s parents, Stephen and Kerry.
Additionally, Jo’s passing was lamented on social media by Mark J. Golding, a politician from Jamaica and the leader of the People’s National Party.
He wrote, “I just learned of the awful demise of Joseph “Jo Mersa” Marley,” in a tweet. a great young reggae performer who is only 31 years old and the grandson of Bob Marley and Stephen Marley. I offer Stephen and the entire family my condolences.
