The rumors that the governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, will not run for reelection with Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo have been deemed incorrect by several.
When Senator Seriake Dickson, the previous governor of the state, visited him at his rural home, Sampou, in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the state, he addressed the accusation.
Governor Diri highlighted that his deputy has substantially contributed to the success of his government and that it would be unimaginable to remove him after noting that such rumors were unfounded.
The Governor was cited as adding that the Diri/Ewhrudjakpo ticket was a divine idea that God used his predecessor, Senator Dickson, to make a reality in a statement by his chief press secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah.
In addition to his wife, Dr. Gloria Diri, traditional elders, and thought leaders from Kolokuma/Opokuma, Diri welcomed Dickson and expressed his gratitude to him for helping him become the state’s governor. He added that he and the residents of Kolokuma/Opokuma will always be indebted to him.
Additionally, he said that Dickson created a strong foundation on which his administration is erecting itself and vowed not to sabotage it.
The state’s helmsman acknowledged that, as a human, he is not faultless and pleaded with authorities and residents to assist him so that he could bring about the urgently required development.
“We traveled to Toru-Orua last week for a Christmas and thank-you visit,” he said. Senator Dickson has done one of those things for a man that he will appreciate you for till the day he dies. We never anticipated that our brother and friend, who has accomplished this wonderful deed, will return today. You owe us nothing for this.
“We want to thank you once more on behalf of the kings and citizens of Kolokuma/Opokuma. We are very appreciative. God will always use a person, and He did so in choosing a Kolokuma son as governor by using you.
Senator Dickson had declared that the success of the present prosperity administration remained his top aim. He was in Sampou for a new year’s visit and to strengthen his friendship with the governor.
He declared that in order to advance the state, Governor Diri deserves all the honor and assistance possible.
