Alhaji Muhammad Kari has been chosen by the Bauchi Emirate Council to serve as the new Wazirin Bauchi and a council member.

On Thursday, Babangida Jahun, the information officer, made the announcement.

The new title bearer would be turbanned on Friday at the Emir’s palace, according to Jahun.

Kari was chosen after Alhaji Muhammadu Bello-Kirfi was fired on January 3.

He was fired for showing “disrespect and disloyalty” to the state government and Governor Bala Mohammed.

The following day, Sa’adatu, Kirfi’s daughter and Commissioner for Cooperatives and SMEs Development, announced her resignation.

During the Shehu Shagari and Olusegun Obasanjo administrations, Kirfi served as minister of state, minister of foreign affairs, and minister of special duties.

The Wakilin Birni and the Jakadan Bauchi received similar treatment, according to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which has criticised his removal.

Sabo Mohammed, a spokesperson for the APC, charged that the State government was undermining the established institution.
