Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), stated that the bureau has begun a master plan to digitize all of its procedures and develop measures to enhance inclusivity in the public sector.

Dasuki stated on Wednesday that the Bureau has implemented various processes in Public Financial Management that have elevated the Nigeria Federal Public Service to the forefront of technology adoption through openness and accountability.

He stated this at the Human Capital Strategy Forum, which was hosted by Bratim Business School and focused on the theme, Inclusive workplace, worker motivation, and performance.

Dasuki also revealed that BPSR has created an application that will allow auditors to work online via an open portal.

He cited IPPIS, single-treasury accounts, and BVN as some of the innovations that have aided in the management of the human resource part of its strategy, where the date of admission and exit of a civil worker can be easily seen and traced.

“We created an application that allows auditors to audit us online. “They can sit down in the office of the Accountant General and audit the finances of any ministry, department, or agency using the open portal,” he stated.

He also mentioned that it has devised a Civil Service strategy to strengthen the officers’ skills from the point of recruiting, promotion, and discipline.

Dasuki also stated that promotions in the public sector will now be based on the use of technology.

“We have just adopted performance management to hold employees accountable and we have set standard operating procedures and KPIs across all ministries, departments and Agencies of the government.

“The promotion of officers from 2021 will be done based on use of IT. They are given KPI-based targets and are electronically monitored. As they work, they provide reports, which are aggregated and scored by a system at the end of the day,” he continued.
