Wild celebration broke out in the All Progressives Congress, APC, camp on Thursday as the Appeal Court members overturned the Federal High Court’s ruling in favor of Senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf. They not only ordered a new primary but also nullified the party’s primary that had already declared Bwacha the winner of the governorship primary.

Although it is unclear at this time whether Yusuf will challenge today’s decision upholding Bwacha as the legitimate APC candidate for governor of the state, some party members who spoke openly about the decision thought the Supreme Court will also find in the candidate’s favor.

The party leadership, overjoyed by the decision, declared that “today’s judgement has further established that we have a governorship candidate for our political party in Taraba state.”

Speaking through the party’s spokesperson, Aaron Artimas, the party leadership said that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and all security personnel who observed the primary had confirmed the results of the governorship primary from each of the 168 wards in the state.

Security agencies and the body charged with conducting elections, he said, “all agreed that primaries were efficiently conducted in Taraba State.” He emphasized that “today, Thursday, the court of appeals in Abuja has likewise equally dismissed the verdict of the Federal Court in Abuja.”

He stated that the party “heartily welcomed this development” and added that “we congratulate the people of the state for the victory because it puts the rumor of holding new primary to rest.”

The Artimas urged party members to dismiss the rumor that there will be a new primary in the state after going on to declare that the Appeal court had acknowledged that there had been an APC governorship primary in Taraba because the results had been approved by security personnel and other agencies.

He urged every party member to work to form a tight alliance and put down their weapons in order to help the party win the upcoming election scheduled for the following year.

Other party camp members who spoke to kuryaloaded in support of the party’s leadership advised the disgruntled aspirants and their supporters to work with the party’s nominee to help the party win.
