Another person has died as a result of the Gwarinpa building collapse, according to the FCT Emergency Management Agency.
The event occurred Thursday morning outside H-Medix on 4th Avenue in the renowned Abuja estate.
A number of workers were trapped in the three-story structure with a basement.
According to a statement issued Thursday night by FCT-FEMA Head of Public Affairs, Nkechi Isa, search and rescue operations are still underway.
“A total of 22 people have been rescued so far, with two confirmed deceased,” the official said.
The victims are being treated at district hospitals in Wuse, Gwarimpa, and Asokoro, as well as the Federal Medical Center.
Other government agencies dispatched staff to help emergency responders.
NEMA, the FRSC, the police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Department of Development Control, the Abuja Metropolitan Management Agency, and the Red Cross are among them.
Isa also mentioned that some construction companies that had heavy duty equipment gave it.
