Fubara orders an investigation into the Rivers building disaster

Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State, has ordered an immediate investigation into the collapse of a two-story structure on Rumuoke Street, at Okilton crossroads along Ada George Road, Port Harcourt.

According to the kuryaloaded, a two-story structure under construction fell early Thursday morning, injuring four people.

According to a statement issued by Fubara’s media aide, Boniface Onyedi, the state administration must investigate the incident’s immediate and remote causes.

Following the examination of the collapsed two-story structure, the governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Special Projects, Engr. Emeka Woke, charged the relevant government authorities with locating people involved in the project as soon as possible.

Anyone found guilty, he says, will face the consequences.

“The Ministry of Urban Development will take immediate action by conducting site investigations and inspections,” according to the statement.

“The destructive and non-destructive testing of collapsed structural elements to determine their strength by determining the yield strength of the reinforcements and sieve analysis of the site soil to determine the immediate and remote causes of the building collapse.”

If anyone involved in the initiative makes a compromise, they will be prosecuted as a deterrent to others.”

While he was sympathizing with the four injured guys he met in the hospital, the doctors treating them assured him that they would be discharged in a few days because they were in stable condition.

He stated that the government had immediately dispatched earth-moving equipment to the site to evacuate the wreckage of the collapsed structure, and that the area had been cordoned off.
