A coalition of national civil society organizations, or CNCSOs, has revealed that the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, had previously refused political leaders’ requests for waivers for spending on elections.
As a result of Emefiele’s refusal to give waivers for election spending and insistence on the cash withdrawal policy, the group stated that he got into problems and that the political forces resorted to removing him from office.
The National Convener of the organization, Chief Willy Ezugwu, and the Secretary, Alhaji Ali Abacha, claimed during a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja that the big plan was to arrest the head of the central bank, hold him for 60 days while an election was possible, and then release him.
The renowned group observed that the Central Bank Governor narrowly avoided conviction on the fabricated allegations because they unintentionally brought the case before an impartial judge.
The corrupt politicians who are opposed to the cash withdrawal limits now acknowledge that the Central Bank of Nigeria’s cashless policy is the right course, but that the time was off, they claimed.
“They also tried to get exemptions for spending on elections. Why are they seeking exemptions? They intend to buy our votes using our stolen commonwealth.
Given how sensitive the issue was to the country, they requested President Muhammadu Buhari to become involved.
