Mr. Onuoha Bethrand, the 38th Commissioner of Police assigned to the Kogi State Command, has reported for duty.
Kogi State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP William Ovye Aya announced the change in command on Thursday, saying that CP Akeem Yusuf had been replaced.
The former CP has reportedly been transferred to the R&D division at Force Headquarters in Abuja, as reported by KURYALOADED
As Aya explained, “The new CP hails from Aboh-Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.” This area is located in the southeastern part of Imo State. He attended the University of Ife for his BA (Hons) in History and the University of Ibadan for his MA in International Relations. In 1992, he enlisted as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in the Nigeria Police Force.
“CP Onuoha is a seasoned police officer who has worked in many different areas of law enforcement. Over the course of more than 30 years, he has participated in a number of Tactical Leadership Courses, including the Advanced Detective Course (ADC), the Intermediate Command Course (ICC), the PSCJ (2007), and the Strategic Leadership and Command Course (SLCC) in 2019.
In his long and distinguished career, he has served in a variety of command capacities and performed a wide range of duties. They include “First Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command; 1996 Patrol and Guard; Divisional Crime Officer; and Divisional Police Officer, Several Divisions, Ondo, Ekiti, and Bauchi Commands;” and “Divisional Police Officer, Several Divisions, Ondo, Ekiti, and Bauchi Commands;”.
He went on to say that the new Kogi State Commissioner of Police had previously served as an Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) Force CID in Ikoyi, Lagos; an Area Commander in the Ilorin Metro; an Area Commander in the Akure North; an Area Commander in the Isi-Ala Ngwa Command; and as a Commander in the Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara, Abia, and Bauchi State Commands.
According to Aya, the new CP of the Kogi State Police Command has the knowledge, honesty, bravery, and experience to effectively lead the force.
