Afeez Aremu, a former Flying Eagles midfielder, has agreed to a long-term contract with FC St. Pauli of the Bundesliga 2.
Next summer, Aremu’s previous contract was set to expire.
By making sure the player signed a new contract, the club is now taking steps to fend off interest in him.
In 2020, the 23-year-old transferred from Ik Start of the Norwegian First Division to the Boys in Brown.
Aremu has played for Fabian Hurzeler’s team in 48 league games.
He has participated in twelve competitive games this season, starting in nine of them.
Andreas Bornemann, the club’s director of sports, is happy to see the former Kwara United player extend his tenure with the organization.
Bornemann told the club’s official website, “We’re glad to have struck an early arrangement with Afeez to continue our collaboration.
“When he first arrived in Hamburg, it took him some time to adjust to the new league and the kind of football we want to play, but he has made excellent progress since then and is a crucial component of our future ambitions,” the coach said.
