Eddie Nketiah received special plaudits from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta after scoring in the Gunners’ Boxing Day 3-1 victory over West Ham United in the Premier League.
Nketiah’s performance for Arsenal against West Ham impressed Arteta, who also said he just had to give him a big hug after the game.
He claimed that Nketiah, who was playing without injured Gabriel Jesus against David Moyes’ team at the Emirates Stadium, was exceptional.
Arteta saw as Arsenal defeated the visitors thanks to three goals from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Nketiah.
“I just gave him a big hug because he definitely deserved that with the way he played today,” Arteta remarked during his post-game press conference. Nketiah delivered a terrific performance, and the goal was typical of him.
“You could tell that he was trying in the last few games, but he was unable to score. However, he is capable of doing so; we saw it every game in practice, and that will boost his confidence. I’m happy with what he accomplished today.
“Even though he isn’t participating, Gabriel [Jesus] is still present on the team and still having an effect on the field. He’s assisting Eddie.
