Lionel Messi, the top player for Argentina, has received another honor for 2022.
The PSG superstar has been selected by the International Sports Press Association America, AIPS, as the Male Athlete of the Year.
The World Cup champion received the honor with Yulimar Rojas, a runner from Venezuela who was chosen as the top female athlete of 2022.
As Argentina won the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup earlier this month, Messi made a significant contribution.
He was honored as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after scoring seven goals and providing three crucial assists for his nation.
The 35-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in 19 games across competitions to help PSG maintain their lead in the league standings and advance to the next round of the Champions League.
This is the third time the former Barcelona star has taken home the prize, beating out Brazilian player Richarlison and Colombian figure skater Brayan Carreno.
