Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has denounced the murder of Barrister Bolanle Raheem in the state’s Ajah region.
According to the kuryaloaded, an ASP opened fire on the lawyer, who was unarmed, as she was heading home on Christmas day.
It was discovered that Raheem and her family were being pursued by the officer assigned to the Ajah Police Station and his team as they were returning home from a Christmas Day church service.
According to reports, the deceased was shot as her automobile attempted to perform a U-turn beneath the Ajah Bridge. She was taken urgently to a hospital, where her demise was eventually determined.
The news has sparked protests across the nation as many Nigerians criticize the police for what they claim are frequent extrajudicial killings.
In response, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced that the suspect had already been captured and arrested in a tweet on his official Twitter account. He also vowed that the victim will receive justice.
“I received the news of the regrettable and preventable killing of Barrister Bolanle Raheem at the hands of a police officer at Ajiwe with great shock and sadness,” he wrote. My sympathies go out to her family, friends, and coworkers. You can rest assured that justice will be done.
“The officer(s) engaged in the incident have been detained, arrested, and disarmed by the Lagos State police command. Under Lagos State law, nothing will be spared until swift and complete justice is done.
