John Barnes, a former Liverpool player, has encouraged Manchester United to switch Cristiano Ronaldo out for Cody Gakpo, a World Cup star.
Barnes believes it would be logical for Man United to sign Gakpo to replace Ronaldo at Stamford Bridge.
Gakpo performed admirably for the Netherlands at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The PSV star helped his nation advance to the round of 16 by scoring three goals in five outings.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s contract with Manchester United was terminated last month, leaving him a free agent.
Gakpo would make sense for Manchester United, according to Barnes, who spoke to BonusCodeBets.
“Ronaldo went, and they haven’t precisely declared Anthony Martial to be their starting number 9 yet. Marcus Rashford prefers to play wide, thus they are seeking for a center forward.
“Gakpo would play more and be a better fit for Manchester United than he would be for Liverpool. He puts a lot of effort into the squad and poses a goal threat.
