Fabrizio Romano, a football transfer expert, has disclosed that Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer (MLS) was interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo before the Portuguese captain signed with Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia on Friday.

On Saturday morning, Romano revealed this in a post sent from his Twitter account.

“Sporting Kansas City were genuinely trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo,” he wrote on Twitter. Prior to Morgan’s interview, SKC had a meeting. At the second meeting, specific plans for CR7’s potential commercial performances in Kansas City were discussed.

“Ronaldo’s salary package was substantial, but he chose to move to Al Nassr.”

On Friday night, Ronaldo successfully negotiated a free transfer to Al-Nasr.

The former Manchester United forward committed to a contract that keeps him with Al-Nassr through 2025.

For Al-Nassr, the 37-year-old will don the No. 7 jersey.
