Buhari selects Nkom to a second term in the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office

The second and last four-year term of Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom as Director General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office has been authorized by President Muhammadu Buhari and will begin on January 12, 2023.

This was revealed in a statement released on Tuesday by Femi Adesina, the president’s spokesman.

Nkom was initially appointed on January 12th, 2019, for a four-year starting term.

Under Nkom’s direction, the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office has seen an 86% rise in revenue generation over the past four years, bringing in approximately N8.9 billion between 2019 and 2021 compared to N4.8 billion over the same period of 2016 to 2018.

Additionally, this accounts for around 50% of the economy-wide contribution made by the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.

Online and real-time mineral title administration and management have been revolutionized by his newly disclosed changes to the automation of the Mining Cadastre system.
