Wale Adedayo, the temporarily suspended chairman of Ogun State’s Ijebu-East Local Government Area, is being held by the Department of State Security (DSS) in Abeokuta.
Following claims that Governor Dapo Abiodun had been misusing monies intended for the state’s local governments, Adedayo had been called by the DSS.
He told reporters earlier on Friday that he was present at the security agency’s office in Oke-Mosan.
According to a member of his staff who asked not to be named for security reasons, his principal was still working for the DSS as of 9 p.m.
He claimed that despite having followed Adedayo to the DSS office entrance during the day, he hadn’t been freed as of 9 p.m.
Our correspondent was unable to quickly ascertain the reason the DSS has not yet released the suspended chairman.
