The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to make the new redesigned Naira notes available across the country to help companies.
According to our source, some companies, mainly in rural regions, collapsed a few days ago as a result of the paucity of fresh Naira notes.
Despite the extension of the deadline for the old notes, cash remains a major issue because both the old and new notes are in short supply.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its President-General, Goodluck Ibem, COSEYL requested the apex bank to allow the notes to circulate throughout the country within the 10-day grace period.
“The CBN should throughout the aforesaid 10 days period ensure that the new naira notes are released into circulation to enable Nigerians to have access to it for their day to day economic activities.
“The lack of new notes in circulation has caused numerous establishments to close in the last few days,” the statement continued.
