Arnau Martinez, a product of the Barcelona youth system, has been linked to Real Madrid as the club searches for a long-term successor for Dani Carvajal.
Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, reportedly wants to replace Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez with a more talented player. This is according to El Nacional.
Both Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain and Ivan Fresneda of Real Valladolid were targets for Real Madrid.
Fresneda has many interested parties, but PSG is hesitant to deal for Hakimi.
Due to the current situation, Madrid is considering signing Martinez from Girona.
Before moving on to Girona in 2016, Martinez trained at La Masia for six years.
The 20-year-old is now a mainstay in Girona’s starting lineup.
The Spanish star, who is worth €15 million and has two years left on his Girona contract, is a free agent.
