Generals are redeployed in a significant restructuring of the Nigerian Army

In order to improve administrative and operational efficiency, the Nigerian Army (NA) has announced a significant restructuring of top officers.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, released a statement on Saturday.

The reassignment of Major Generals and Brigadier Generals, according to Nwachukwu, was approved by Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff.

It has an impact on the Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Corps Commanders, Commandants of NA Training Institutions, and Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters.

Major General IS Ali, the new Theatre Commander for Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI at Theatre Command, is the new General Officers’ Commanding (GOC).

As the new GOC and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General AB Ibrahim of the Army Headquarters Department of Training will be based at Headquarters 3 Division.

Major General GM Mutkut will now serve as the GOC for 8 Division and Commander of Operation HADARIN DAJI, taking over for Major General AS Chinade who moved from Headquarters 2 Division to Headquarters 82 Division.

Major General CG Musa, formerly of Theatre Command, is the new Commander of Headquarters Infantry Corps Center, while Major General MS Ahmed, formerly of Headquarters Theatre Command (NE), is the new Commander of Headquarters Nigerian Army Armoured Corps.

Major General BR Sinjen, the new commander of the Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, Major General PE Eromosele, the new commander of the Headquarters Nigerian Army Engineers, and

Major Generals AA Ayannuga and GS Abdullahi were transferred from the Department of Army Transformation at Army Headquarters to the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command and the Headquarters Nigerian Army Signals, respectively.

Major General SE Udounwa, formerly of the Army Headquarters Department of Special Services and Programmes, has been appointed Chief of Defence Training and Operations at Defence Headquarters.

Major General SG Mohammed was transferred as Chief of Training from the Army Headquarters Department of Policy and Plans to the Department of Army Training, and Major General UT Musa was transferred as Director Personnel Management from Headquarters 82 Division to the Department of Army Administration.

From Headquarters 31 Artillery Brigade to the Department of Army Administration as the Director of Manpower, Major General Y Yahaya (Army).

Brigadier General TI Gusau was transferred as the new Director of the Directorate of Defence Information from the Army Headquarters Department of Special Services.

The newly redeployed Brigade Commanders are Brigadier General AM Umar from the Office of the Chief of Army Staff to Headquarters Guards Brigade, Brigadier General S Aliyu from Headquarters 6 Division to Headquarters 63 Brigade.

Brigadier General HD Bobbo from National Defence College to Headquarters 31 Brigade; Brigadier General MT Aminu from Army War College Nigeria to Headquarters 35 Brigade.

The statement noted that redeployment of the Generals takes effect from January 11, 2022.
