Bukar Tijani has been named the Secretary of State Government by Borno State Governor, Prof. Banagana Umara Zulum.
Prof. Isa Marte was also reappointed as Zulum’s Chief of Staff.
Malam Isa Gusau, the Governor’s spokesman, issued a statement on Wednesday announcing the two nominations.
According to the announcement, Zulum took into account Tijani’s extensive background working at the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as an Assistant Secretary-General/Assistant Director-General (ASG/ADG) from July 2011 to September 2013.
Tijani, 62, is originally from the Dikwa local government area of Borno State, however he was born in Damasak.
This ex-minister’s educational background includes a 1989 Master of Science in Tropical Agricultural Development from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom.
According to the release, Professor Isa Marte is a native of the Marte local government region of Borno State and was previously the head of staff for Governor Zulum.
Formerly serving as commissioner for Higher Education for Borno State from August 2019 to August 2020 and as supervising Commissioner for Health in 2021, the reappointed chief of staff has also held both positions.
Under the Zulum government, he served in both capacities.
