Senator Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State, reiterated his administration’s dedication to the fight against insecurity and referred to it as sacred.
This was said by the governor on Thursday at the Imo Stakeholders Forum’s 7th annual gathering in Owerri.
Uzodimma also threatened to put criminals and other vice-committed individuals to justice and cautioned them to stop committing such crimes and vices.
He commended the state’s law-abiding citizens for their steadfast loyalty and issued a warning that any attempt by the state’s enemies to disturb the peace would be “firmly repressed.”
“We are sacrosanct in our commitment to the safety of the lives and property of the Imo people.
We’ll fight back against any attempts to destabilize the state and make sure that those who are giving our people nightmares are revealed for what they actually are. He declared that nobody was above the law.
He did, however, promise to make significant expenditures in infrastructure to promote the economic advancement of the Imo people.
He said that vital infrastructure would receive 72% of the 2023 budget, paving the path for increased economic activity in the state.
“Capital projects have been budgeted for at 72% of 2023’s total budget. With our idea of wealth increase through infrastructure development, we are focused and logical.
He declared, “Our freshly built and currently under construction roadways will enhance intercity trade and commerce and increase our Internally Generated Revenue.”
As Uzodimma gave his scorecard earlier, Mr. Pascal Dozie, the event’s chairman, urged the Imo people to demonstrate enthusiasm for the state’s progress.
“Everyone can make a difference in improving our state. Uzodimma will have the chance to discuss his stewardship in this platform so that we can contribute to making Imo a proud place, he remarked.
Additionally, for the benefit of the populace as a whole, Prof. Maurice Iwu, a former INEC chairman, advised Imo citizens to remain loyal to the Uzodimma-led administration.
Ikedi Ohakim, a former governor of the state, as well as other former deputy governors and current and former members of the State’s Executive Council were reportedly present at the event, according to DAILY POST.
Also in attendance were Pioneer Chairman and co-founder of Seplat Oil and Gas Limited, Chief ABC Orjiako as well as traditional and religious leaders in the state.
