The projected nationwide rollout of CNG cars for public transit has been backed by the National Economic Council (NEC).

Mr. Olusola Abiola, Director of Information in the Office of the Vice President, reportedly made the announcement on Thursday in Abuja, as reported by NAN.

According to Abiola, the NEC meeting, presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima, made the decision as part of its resolutions.

Shettima promised that the federal government will work diligently to increase the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric vehicles across the country.

Additionally, we will work quickly to get CNG-powered vehicles on the road in every state and set up autogas conversion plants/kits.

We’ll have charging stations set up for electric buses and vehicles, too.
