Nwankwo Kanu, a former captain of the Super Eagles, is rumored to be in position to become the new chairman of Enyimba, the winners of the Nigeria Premier League.
This Monday, the Abia State Government disbanded the Peoples’ Elephant’s previous board of directors.
Twenty-three years ago, the squad was led by Felix Anyansi-Agwu, who at the time served as chairman.
During his tenure, the Aba giants won nine Nigerian Premier League titles and two CAF Champions League.
Kanu, a former Premier League winner, has reportedly been targeted for the role, according to sources from Umuahia.
Next year, Enyimba will take part in the CAF Champions League.
