As the crisis worsens, the NNPP founders advise Kwankwaso to start your own party.
As the section of the party loyal to the Board of Trustees withdrew from the memorandum of agreement that the party and Kwankwansiya Movement had signed in 2022, the conflict that has gripped the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has assumed a new dimension.
Rabiu Kwakwanso, a former governor of Kano state, rose to prominence after the signing of the memorandum of agreement in February 2022, and Boniface Aniebonam, the party’s founder, was named chairman of the Board of Trustees.
The National Executive Committee dismissed Aniebonam and the previous National Publicity Secretary, Agbo Major, from the party on Tuesday, while the Board of Trustees also announced Kwankwaso’s three-month ban.
The romance between the NNPP, The Nigeria Movement, and Kwankwansiya Movement, according to Mohammed Abdullahi, who is claiming to be the Secretary of the BOT, has come to an end.
Abdullahi claimed that the MOU between the TNM and the Kwankwansiya Movement, which he claimed was only signed with the intention of winning the election, has come to an end.
He urged them to apply the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for registration as a political party while wishing them success in their future endeavors.
Wearing a red cap while a member of the New Nigeria People’s Party is an unnecessary breach of the agreement between the NNPP and the Kwankwasiya movement, he claimed. This is thus because, aside from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, the Kwankwasiya Movement is not a political party.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Kwankwasiya movement and TNM are merely pressure groups operating under the NNPP’s auspices and for the benefit of the Nigerian elections.
Therefore, going forward, wearing a red cap is not appropriate for NNPP members to wear when participating in political activities. All Kwankwasiya Movement members are thus hereby advised that, aside from being duped by their leaders, NNPP was not sold to the Kwankwasiya Movement or anyone else or a group of people.
“What we had with Kwankwasiya and TNM was merely a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in order to gain elected offices. No one in the organization belongs to a political party, hence it is not an alliance.
He added that the parties to the memorandum of understanding had subsequently withdrawn, making the necessity to dissolve the marriage inevitable.
He listed the signatories of the MOU as Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, who functioned as the NNPP’s national organizing secretary, Prof. Angwe, who represented TNM as the national legal adviser, and Drs. Aniebonam and Agbo Major, who signed for the NNPP.
Senator Kwankwaso and elder Buba Galadima were left “floating and swimming in violations of the memo of non-existing understanding,” he continued, when these individuals left.
It is known that Prof. Alkali, who represented TNM and served as the party’s national chairman, stood down from that position in order to save his political career.
The Deputy National Chairman of the alliance, Avm Ihemeje, “equally resigned due to high handedness, constitutional violations, anti-party activities, and all kinds of arrogance and avoidable self-pride of senator Kwankwaso and elder Buba Galadima,” the senator added.
He urged every New Nigeria People’s Party member who had left the party since 2001 out of resentment to come back and assist in its revival.
“We made an honest mistake, but we didn’t completely lose,” he remarked. One Governor, two Senators, over fifteen Houses of Representatives, and a number of Houses of Assembly make up our current government. We are quite delighted to have won elective positions as the NNPP rather than the Kwankwasiya Movement.
Unfortunately, it is evident that a case of highjack via the backdoor may have been created against Senator Kwankwanso and elder Buba Galadima. It is really regrettable that the NNPP entered into a political understanding with the Kwankwasiya faction.
“Senator Kwankwaso and elder Buba Galadima may be better characterized as cowards and gold diggers, according to the NNPP leadership, founder, and founding members.
“A tenant ejecting a landlord from his house is unheard of. We can only pray for God to have pity on Elder Buba Galadima and Senator Kwankwaso and to pardon their crimes against humanity.
