Man who was handcuffed and run over by police in Edo identified – Police Public Relations Office

CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer for the Nigeria Police Force, has responded to a viral video showing police officers in Edo State running over a guy they had just handcuffed.

Early on Friday morning, a horrific video showing a man in handcuffs lying on the road in a shredded white singlet while bystanders sought to intercede so that police officers in a Sienna bus wouldn’t run him over circulated on Twitter.

Adejobi, who called the incident “unpoliced and unbelievable,” commented on the latest developments, saying that the Edo Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Chidi Nwabuzor, had identified the police officers responsible.

The Edo Commissioner of Police has been called, and immediate action is being taken, he added.

Inappropriate policing. It seems impossible for a human being. A man should be run over by an automobile. This must be a joke. Regarding this matter, I have contacted the CP Edo directly. There is an immediate need for us to act. Adejobi tweeted on Friday, “From a personal standpoint, this is very strange.”

Later, he tweeted, “Speaking to issues is not the priority in most cases.” It’s the doing that counts. Chidi, the PPRO in Edo, has taken action. In fact, he has already located the culprits. Still, we’ll have more to say as soon as possible.
