Member of the PDP Board of Trade, Oyedokun, Resigns from Party

Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, who was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustee, has decided to step down from his position within the party.

He resigned, citing the party’s departure from its founding fathers’ beliefs, in a letter signed by himself and sent to the National Chairman via his ward 13 chairman.

Despite being one of the party’s original members, he felt he had no choice but to resign, he added.

According to the letter, which Vanguard received on Thursday, the party chieftain has chosen to align himself with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

It reads as follows: “As a functional member and leader of PDP (Ward 13, Jagun/Osi-Bale Ode, Odo-Otin South Local Government, Osun State,) whose high electoral productivity and value have been credibly and positively acknowledged in my ward, across the local council, state and countrywide for the enhancement of the PDP’s fortunes, I have the honor (though with pain) to announce the renunciation of my membership of the party on principle. Having observed that the ideals of us, founding members, have been severely tainted, it is my firm belief that I must remove myself from this party.

It is with great regret that I must inform you that I have chosen to change my political affiliation from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party where I am confident my skills, work, and leadership positions will be respected and honored.
