Kane, in the opinion of Merson, would increase Manchester United’s chances of winning the UCL.
Kane has recently been regarded as one of the top attackers in the world.
In 412 appearances, the England captain scored 265 goals for Tottenham.
The 29-year-old is only two goals behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (21) in the battle for the Golden Boot after scoring 15 goals in 18 Premier League games for Tottenham so far this season.
Merson told the Daily Star, “I would find it ridiculous if Manchester United didn’t break the bank for Harry Kane in an age where clubs spend money for fun and world-class center-forwards are a rare.
“United must go and grab Kane if they ever hope to catch Manchester City.
“I’m not sure what I’m overlooking here. You are purchasing more than 100 goals even if he costs £150 million and has a four- or five-year contract. Who else is going to provide that for you?
“Everyone talks about Erling Haaland, but in my opinion, in that Manchester City club, Kane could produce same figures and even add more assists. Call me naive, but I believe Kane would even give United a chance to win the Champions League.
