A disclosure regarding Lionel Messi’s future at Paris Saint-Germain has been made by Guillem Balague.
There is an agreement for Messi to prolong his contract in Ligue 1, despite the fact that many anticipate the World Cup champion from Argentina to quit the French team and head back to Barcelona.
A new contract offer from PSG was accepted by the 35-year-old, claims Spanish football analyst Balague.
This is despite Barcelona, where Messi spent 21 years playing and showing interest.
At the conclusion of the current campaign, Messi’s current contract will expire, and it has been widely rumored that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will decide on his future after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Inter Miami of Major League Soccer (MLS) has also been suggested as a possible destination for him.
But according to Balague, football has made it known that a deal has been reached for the seasoned forward to sign a new contract.
“It’s time to discuss Leo’s future. Luis Campos and Jorge Messi have been in touch for four months,” he tweeted.
“Jorge and PSG chairman Nasser Al Khelaifi had a crucial meeting in Doha, and they made progress. There is a deal in place for Messi to extend his deal with PSG.
He has a [contract] for two years plus one with PSG. The French club no longer offers the “plus 1” as a method of renewal; instead, they provide one year plus a subsequent year that must be agreed upon by both sides.
