The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Dr. Yakubu Pam, noted that the Enugu pilgrims displayed good behavior in the Holy Land and should be applauded for coming securely and completely after the arrival of the entire pilgrim group from Enugu on Saturday.
On December 24, the Commission’s pilgrims’ aircraft, carrying 300 pilgrims, landed at Enugu’s Akanu Ibiam International Airport.
The fact that no pilgrims absconded in the Holy Land indicates that the Commission’s goal to achieve zero abscondment of pilgrims while in the Holy Land is paying off, according to Rev Pam, who was particularly pleased with the smooth conduct of the Pilgrimage exercise as the first batch to be airlifted to the Holy Land in the ongoing Pilgrimage exercise.
In a statement made available to DAILY POST, Deputy Director and Head of Media and Public Relations Celestine Toruka reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to making Pilgrimage more spiritually centered and interactive in the upcoming year.
While praising the efforts of Nestor Ezeme and the NCPC personnel who offered logistical support for the pilgrims in the Holy Land, Rev Pam expressed her optimism that the succeeding batches of intended pilgrims would follow the good example set by the Enugu pilgrims.
Recall that on December 16, 2022, the Commission in Enugu flagged off the 2022 Pilgrimage exercise to Israel and Jordan. The Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, was present and encouraged them to be excellent ambassadors for the state and Nigeria.
