Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has urged Nigerians to spread cheer and goodwill by giving to others in the holiday spirit.
This was said in a Christmas greeting sent on Monday to newsmen in Owerri by Mr. Chinedu Arthur-Ugwa, the Zonal Coordinator of the South-South Youth Wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
When congratulating Nigerians on their Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations, Arthur-Ugwa noted that it was not a mistake that the two holidays fall on the same day every year.
According to him, the holidays give Nigerians a chance to close the wealth-poverty gap by extending hospitality and gift-giving in an effort to foster national togetherness.
As a way to extend hospitality in the spirit of the festivities, Arthur-Ugwa advised well-meaning Nigerians to give back to society by sharing what they have with the less fortunate.
In addition to providing meals and other presents, he urged the political leaders to give back to Nigerians by creating jobs.
“The Christmas and Boxing Day holidays give us a chance to overcome social barriers, come together as a nation, and lend a helping hand to one another.
They also give us the chance to reflect on our nationhood and offer answers to the problems facing the nation, particularly as an election year approaches.
“In the spirit of the season, we also urge those who stir up problems by any means to reconsider and seriously consider the benefits of peaceful cohabitation and a hostile-free society.
Regardless of political or other tendencies, may our hearts of giving bring peace back to our nation. May we all live in peace, harmony, and growth. May God grant us wisdom to recognize our unity as a family, he prayed.
