On every quarry site in the state, the Osun State Government has fired all consultants and revenue collectors.
Samuel Oyedotun, Chairman of the Review Committee on Solid Minerals, gave the order for the immediate disengagement.
The committee was one of the review groups the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, established soon after taking office.
The decision became necessary to stop the state’s financial losses, according to a statement signed by the committee’s secretary, Hashim Abioye.
The letter also advised all unlicensed tax collectors to avoid the state’s quarry sites.
“The committee is in possession of information that some illegal agents have been collecting money on quarry sites ostensibly for the state government, which end up in private wallets,” claims Abioye.
As a result, all individual or corporate consultants and revenue collectors on the state quarry sites are required by the committee to stop working there going forward because a new arrangement will soon be established in connection with the Osun State Office of Solid Minerals.
The statement further instructed “all quarry operators and stakeholders in the state are to contact the Committee on Solid Minerals within 48 hours from the time of this release for information regarding the new arrangement” at 08101006724 and 08135889525.
