Police in Akwa Ibom detain a woman who kidnaps unsuspecting men for ransom while luring them to her boyfriend

Nanai Friday Ekpo, a woman who entices unwary men to her lover to be kidnapped for ransom, has been detained by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.
Her partner is currently at large, but the suspect was captured together with two other kidnapping gang members, Barika Samuel Nulee and Nwidum Alugbo Yaake.

The suspects admitted to kidnapping two founders of private secondary schools in Ukanafun LGA, according to Olatoye Durosinmi, the Akwa Ibom Commissioner of Police, who paraded the suspects at the state police headquarters in Uyo on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Ikot Akpan Abia.

“On 20th July 2023, at about 7:00 p.m, operatives of Ukanafun Division of the Command, relying on credible information stormed Ikot Akpa Nkuk in Ukanafun L.G A and arrested three (3) suspects, one Nanai Friday Ekpo (f) of Odaro Ikot Village in Ukanafun L.G.A, one Barika Samuel Nulee and Nwidum Alugbo Yaake, both of Khana L.G.A. of Rivers State,” the CP stated.

“During questioning, Nanai Friday said that she had been responsible for bringing unsuspecting males to the location of her lover, one Endurance Monday, who is still at large, in order to kidnap them and demand ransom that they could split.

Victims have been reunited with their family after the suspects admitted to abducting senior lecturer Uwem Akpanuko and Victoria Imo Uko from Ukanafun L.G.A.
