The governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has urged local Christians to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ by exhibiting compassion and sharing the message of peace as true followers of Christ as the globe celebrates Christmas.

The Governor, who made the request in a holiday letter signed by Kunle Somorin, his chief press secretary, explained that because Christmas is about the birth of the Messiah, who came to preach love throughout his lifetime, his followers must live by the watchwords of peace and love.

He further stated that since Christ died for the redemption of mankind, his birth should be remembered always and not just during the Christmas season.

However, he insisted that Christians should celebrate in moderation.

The Governor also asked them to use this lucky time to show kindness to the less fortunate and those in need so that they will feel loved over the holiday season.

Abiodun pointed out that Christians should not only rejoice during this time, but also begin making spiritual intercessions on behalf of the nation, particularly at this time when it is facing socioeconomic difficulties.

The Governor said that Nigerians are going through a difficult time but urged people to hold onto hope for a better Nigeria.

He expressed confidence that the nation would triumph over its current difficulties and emerge as a stronger, more unified, and secure nation.

However, in order to be allowed to vote in the general election of 2023, Abiodun urged the residents of the state to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards.

He also urged students to vote for persons who had strong character, honesty, and talent rather than being duped by dishonest politicians.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to delivering excellent governance and creating an environment that is conducive to investment growth while stressing that the welfare and well-being of Ogun workers and the general populace would always come first.
