Ocholi Ausa, the Chief Operating Officer of Kaduna Electric, said on Saturday that the power rationing (load shedding) being experienced in areas of Kaduna is a result of a dramatic decline in power generation nationwide.
He explained that, contrary to incorrect information and misleading speculations attributing the situation to political or subterranean causes, the current intermittent service interruptions in areas such as Rigasa, Mando, Tudun Wada, Unguwan Mu’azu, Nariya, and a cross-section of the metropolis are due to generation shortfall.
According to Ausa, “the power allocation to our company has now been reduced by nearly 50%; the situation has become more difficult to manage since the beginning of this month following the installation of under-frequency relays by Transmission Company of Nigeria in some selected heavy load circuits to avert the national grid’s collapse.”
He made this statement while leading a team to the Kaduna State secretariat of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.
He vowed that Kaduna Electric’s management is working extremely hard and engaging all key parties in order to improve power delivery to its users. He also pleaded for the public’s understanding and warned against harming corporate workers or facilities, claiming that such action would only exacerbate the issue.
Rev. John Joseph Hayab, Chairman of CAN, Kaduna State Chapter, who received the Kaduna Electric delegations, urged community leaders and stakeholders to always verify the authenticity of stories and information that come to their attention before making pronouncements on them in order to avoid misleading or misinforming their subjects.
“We should always verify any story that comes our way in order to be in a better position to give the finest counsel that would present solution to any difficulty we may be facing in society,” he says.
Thanking the Kaduna Electric team, Rev Hayab promised to use the venues at CAN’s disposal to enlighten and educate their congregation on the country’s power supply concerns.
“Nigerians should shun anything that would lead to our country’s demise,” he urged.
“We should always verify any narrative that comes our way,” he added, “in order to be in a better position to give the finest advise that would proffer a solution to any difficulty we may be facing in society.”
