Sam Amadi, director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, has said that those who name him and Obiageli Ezekwesili in social media posts about every incidence of deaths in the southeast are being foolish.
For Amadi, “teasing someone when your house is collapsing is patently stupid.”
He claimed that the government occasionally encourages terror or gives criminals free reign, and he questioned the motivations of those who would rather mock him than criticize the government.
On Thursday, Amadi wrote a post on his Twitter account claiming that killings occur elsewhere in the country and calling it a “recipe for state failure” when people laugh at the death of a fellow citizen instead of grieving and demanding action from the government.
On a gory day in the Southeast, he said, “people tag me or @obyezeks.” I can’t believe this. The adults have so excused the government for its catastrophic failure. When the government is complicit in acts of terror or gives criminals free reign, instead of condemning it, you mock me. How about you? Pity.
When your house is falling down around you, it is incredibly dumb to taunt someone. The daily carnage is concentrated in the regions bordering the southwest, south, northwest, northeast, north central, and southeast. You’re making fun of another citizen instead of mourning and requesting government action. That’s a surefire way to bring down a government.
