A Chinese manager of the firm allegedly shoved Ocheze from the crane, according to Vanguard’s reporting. Supposedly, she died after striking her skull on something hard.

Several steel mill employees informed Vanguard that the late Ocheze’s purported rejection of the Chinese manager’s romantic approaches was the root of their strained relationship.

But the event heightened tensions within the steel mill as local youngsters blocked the gates, adamant that they would not leave until the crane operator’s killer was brought to justice. Soldiers stationed outside the steel business eventually dispersed the demonstrating youngsters.

Some of the young protesters were allegedly shot and beaten by the soldiers.

The Chinese workers at Inner Galaxy are degrading the Nigerian people. Using his fist, the Chinese manager forced Ocheze from the crane. The impact of her fall on the hard surface was fatal to her. We demand that the authorities look into the actions of the Chinese employees at Inner Galaxy Company so that our sister’s death is not in vain. As a result of our protests over our sister’s death, the troops stationed outside the firm have opened fire on us. Many Nigerians are going through a lot of pain because of them. “Enough is enough,” proclaimed one of the young protesters speaking to Vanguard.

As of the day of this report’s filing, the Police Public Relations Officer from the Abia State command had not responded to any of the calls or texts given to her mobile number.

Congressional representative Chris Nkwonta, who represents the Ukwa West and Ukwa East district, has also spoken out against the factory worker’s death.

The death of the crane operator, who was a member of Nkwonta’s constituency, was described by the lawmaker as “an act of hatred and wickedness exhibited by the Chinese expatriate at the Steel Company against their host community, Umuahala,” according to Nkwonta’s statement. The obuzor
